Recycling Depot Floorworker

Job Description

As one of the floor workers, you will serve as one of the faces of KUTE, providing information, answering questions, and responding to requests. You will have a general understanding of the depot’s operations and the physical capabilities to do all components of the job. Additionally, you will operate heavy machinery, including forklifts, bailers and densifiers. This is a union position.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Greeting people that are dropping off recycling.
  • Educating the public regarding recycling in the Kitimat area.
  • Sorting recyclables that are dropped off at the depot.
  • Operating a Styrofoam densifier.
  • Operating material bailers.
  • Operating a forklift.
  • General cleaning duties.
  • Preparing shipments.


  • High School Diploma

Employees must complete a WHMIS training program as part of their job requirements. Also, a forklift operator's ticket and first aid certifications are considered an asset.
